Dark Justice -- Chapter 27
The Tragicomedy of "Peer Review"

Wow.  Do I ever had some breaking news for you: Prosecutions are often political.  Really.  Seriously.  No shit.  I realize, of course, that you'd never heard this before.  Obviously, the New York Times condiders Bush/Gonzales' prosecutorial tactics sui generis.

Thus, you must be shocked, shocked, to learn that Bush/Gonzales' Department of Justice is less zealous prosecuting a civil RICO case against Big Tobacco than Clinton/Reno's DOJ was.

My whole view of the legal world has just been turned upside down.  Whether and to what extent a case is prosecuted often depends upon political connections?  Man, I think I just lost my religion.
