NBA Players' Age, Education, and Arrest Records
July 21, 2005
Professor Michael McCann has a fascinating post up at Sports Law Blog:
In studying the vast majority of recent NBA player arrests, I came to two conclusions: 1) college education does not appear to diminish the probability of an NBA player getting in trouble with the law; and 2) NBA players appear more likely to get in trouble with the law towards the middle and end of their careers than at the start. These findings suggest that the recent decision by the NBA and Players' Association to raise the age of NBA draft eligibility from 18 to 19 will not improve the overall law-abidingness of NBA players; in fact, based on this data, it may have the opposite effect.
Do take a look.
