Jones Day? Maybe I Was Wrong

My edifice complex kicked in and blinded me while traveling in Washington, D.C., a few weeks ago. I was so struck by the Jones Day building that I wrote a piece here wondering wassup with a firm of that size.

In yesterday's mail and unexpected treat. Mark Herrmann, whom I assume to be a partner in the firm, sent me a copy of a book he wrote together with a delightful note. The book is called The Curmudgeon's Guide to Practicing Law. It is published by the American Bar Association.

I've not yet had a chance to read it cover to cover, but what I've seen thus far appeals. It is literate, understated, witty and even wise.

I am thinking of sending my resume to Jones Day. Perhaps the firm can make use of me in the mail room.
