Mary Gold Saves Marriage

Is this the greatest article on marriage ever written?

A Monday morning, and my boss Annie was sitting at her desk with tears streaming down her face. Oh dear, someone had clearly died.

Through her sobs she managed to tell me what was wrong: ‘It’s my husband Jeremy. He won’t clean his shower room and I’ve been asking him for a weeeeeeek!’

‘Why not just clean it yourself?’ I asked, baffled.

She was aghast. ‘That’s the trouble. Women like you create men like this. Let’s hope you never have sons or they’ll be bone idle.’

She and Jeremy split up soon afterwards, and I wondered what was quoted as the reason in their divorce. Irretrievable breakdown of bathroom cleaning abilities? Mental anguish caused by excess mildew? Total neglect of the Cillit Bang bottle?

Honestly, does cleaning really matter?

The article only get better. Judging by the comments, women will continue their assault on marriage. Most of the women readers think that women's liberation means always being able to whine about stupidity. Here's a typical response:

Is this article for real? Or is it a joke? I hope this is a joke because if it is real than the author just managed to set the women's rights movement back 300 years.

Three-hundred years ago, women couldn't vote, own land, or even choose their husbands. Long before women's lib, women were able to bitch at their husbands. Has this harpy not read the Bible? Here's some wisdom from 2,000 years ago:

Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife. Proverbs 21:9.

Jewish dudes over 2,000 years ago dealt with the same 99 Problems as Jay-Z. There's even an entire book of the Bible devoted to women. See Proverbs 31. Men have always hated being bitched at, and men have always wanted a woman like this:

Epilogue: The Wife of Noble Character

 10 A wife of noble character who can find?
   She is worth far more than rubies.
11 Her husband has full confidence in her
   and lacks nothing of value.
12 She brings him good, not harm,
   all the days of her life.
13 She selects wool and flax
   and works with eager hands.
14 She is like the merchant ships,
   bringing her food from afar.
15 She gets up while it is still night;
   she provides food for her family
   and portions for her female servants.
16 She considers a field and buys it;
   out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.
17 She sets about her work vigorously;
   her arms are strong for her tasks.
18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
   and her lamp does not go out at night.
19 In her hand she holds the distaff
   and grasps the spindle with her fingers.
20 She opens her arms to the poor
   and extends her hands to the needy.
21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household;
   for all of them are clothed in scarlet.
22 She makes coverings for her bed;
   she is clothed in fine linen and purple.
23 Her husband is respected at the city gate,
   where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.
24 She makes linen garments and sells them,
   and supplies the merchants with sashes.
25 She is clothed with strength and dignity;
   she can laugh at the days to come.
26 She speaks with wisdom,
   and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
27 She watches over the affairs of her household
   and does not eat the bread of idleness.
28 Her children arise and call her blessed;
   her husband also, and he praises her:
29 “Many women do noble things,
   but you surpass them all.”
30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
   but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.
31 Honor her for all that her hands have done,
   and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

Notorious Homosexual Mouth Rapes Conservative Journalist

The video is hilarious for many reasons. One is the situational irony. This media kid who has never served in the Armed Forces cares about gays showering with straights? As someone who has taken many showers with gays in boxing gyms, and even military facilities, I can tell you that it's no big deal. Probably the guy asking the question would be the most notorious meat gazer. It's also funny because the kid gets humiliated at the end. How does Barney Frank's dick taste?

Why America Has a "Free Press," but Want to Regulate the Internet

Today the government controls the media - no, not directly. The government doesn't tell the New York Times what stories to publish. Instead, reporters are given information by government employees. There is no New York times, and there is no United States government. There are only people within those organizations. Once you understand this - and most never will - then the inherent evil of big government and big business becomes obvious. People are evil, but too small to perpetuate more than petty cruelties. Man's will to cruelty is made possible through large institutions.

A reporter's drive is not the wanton pursuit of truth. The reporter, like all humans, has a drive for recognition and validation. Good stories - from whatever source - lead to acclaim for the reporter. How many reporters would publish an article anonymously? If reporters truly sought to share objective truths, why would they care if someone stole their bylines? What would this matter, so long as truth is advanced?

And so we can understand that modern media has nothing to do with truth, but instead is an exercise of ego.

An honest reporter is an anti-hero. An honest reporter knows only destruction. Yet those you destroy will no longer feed you stories and information - which is required for a long career full of plaques and prizes and hand shakes from fat old white men and sex with young journalist students.

Thus, the only honest reporting is found on the Internet. And so the government wants to regulate the Internet. The New York Times and other dishonest publications support the regulation, as it eliminates the honest reporters, and gives the dishonest an monopoly of your minds.

And stories are all that one finds in the newspapers. The only way to understand the news is to read non-fiction as if it's fiction. The United States Government currently supports the media, for good reason. Jacques Ellul explained this in his essay on propaganda:

Authoritarian regimes know that people held very firmly in hand need some decompression, some safety valves. The government offers these itself. This role is played by satirical journals attacking the authorities, yet tolerated by the dictator, or by a wild holiday set aside for ridiculing the regime, yet paid for by the dictator (Friday of Sorrows in Guatemala) Clearly, such instruments are controlled by the regime.

These instruments of criticism serve to consolidate power and make people cling even more to the regime by providing artificial release of tendencies that the state must keep in check. In such situations, propaganda has an almost therapeutic and compensatory function.

The Internet isn't artificial, and has no connection to the King. The Internet must therefore be killed.

God is Alive

Although the smug among us enjoy mocking Christians and their superstious beliefs, is God really dead? God, properly understood, is an explanation for the unknown. How did we humans get here? How old is the universe?

Some of my friends who are atheists believe in aliens. This is weird. Others believe that the universe is billions of years ago - and that we can know this. That belief is equally weird.

When you think through these issues, as Strike Lawyer does, you realize that God is alive and well.

Why "The Spearhead" is Anti-Male

At year or so ago, I began reading a blog called The Spearhead. Focusing on men's issues and free from advertiser concerns (how whack has Esquire become?), it had potential. Unfortunately, it's failed. Let's examine why The Spearhead, far from being pro-male, it actually anti-male.

Currently on the Spearhead's front page is a post entitled, "All We Have To Do Is Stay Male and Fail." Reviewing, The Decline of Men, the author cries about how women's studies majors are writing mean books about men. Who cares? I would never read such a piece-of-shit book. Life is short, man, and I have things to do.

The Spearhead readers, like religious CONservatives and whiny LIEberals, seek out material to offend them. They gasp, demanding we listen to their exacerbated exhales. Here, e.g., is a comment that has already received 22 postive votes, with 0 negative votes:

alpha December 21, 2010 at 07:46

You know what I’d kill for?I’d kill for articles praising men. articles telling us we do not have to change/apologise/accept responsibility blah blah

I have a dream(sorry MLK)
that one day men will be able to stand up and say “I am a Man-I am NOT a criminal!”

Note the ironic use of "alpha." If the commenter were really alpha, he'd write his own article praising men. Fucking alphas, how do they work?

Sitting around crying about how the world is unfair is a little bitch move. Life has always been unfair - for pretty much everyone. I was born into a very poor family, but they loved me and gave me attention. My rich friends had money, but can't seem to get over their daddy and mommy issues.

All of us could spend our days niggling over childhood wounds. Or we could do something with our adult lives. What do they do at The Spearhead?

Instead of focusing on how to become better men, they cry that women are mean to them. Probably that's true: Women are men to The Spearhead readers. For good reason.

Wailing is about all you see at The Spearhead, and wailing is conduct unbecoming a man. There's not a poster there who says things like this:

Dear Wankers

You are whiny and pathethic. When is the last time you went to the gym, built a business, read an interesting book, or wrote an article?

You suck, and that's why women can't stand you.

Stop crying about women. They are not alone. Men don't like you either.

You would never be allowed to hang out with a crew of legitimate males. You're lame and useless. Unless this changes, everyone will view you with contempt - and rightfully so.

The problem is not with women. The problem is with you.

That seems cruel, and yet it's pro-male. No one advances in life playing defense. No one becomes a man by crying about mean wommenz. A person becomes a man by building himself up. Get busy living or stay busy crying.

As Sam commented a few weeks ago: "I've been reading a lot of Spearhead's articles recently and the comments always get me down thinking that, to follow men's rights issues, means I'm associated with those guys."

Until The Spearhead focuses on how men can build themselves, it will remain a contemptible failure.

Demand Media Scamming Bloggers: Demand Media Blog Network

Demand Media doesn't actually pay bloggers to write, but they offer to syndicate your blog - basically, Demand Media will link to the blogger's posts. Yet they snuck in the contract this language:

Your Grant of Rights. Each of your Contributions will be original and solely created by you as a “work-made-for-hire” specially ordered or commissioned by us, with Demand Media being deemed the sole author of the Contribution and the owner of all rights whether now known or hereafter devised (including all copyrights and all extensions and renewals of copyrights) in and to the Contribution, with the right to make all uses of the Contribution throughout the world and all changes in each Contribution. Without further obligation to you, we may use, reproduce, edit, change, add to, take from, translate, reformat, or reprocess the Contribution in any manner.

Total scam by Demand Media, and proof that the best way to steal from a person is through an keyboard that writes with very small font.

UPDATE: I read Demand Media's press reslease for its "blog distribution network." It's a mighty fine piece of ad copy. It makes it seem like Demand Media will merely link to your blog:

As the latest innovation from Demand Media Studios, the network helps bloggers expand their online brands by syndicating their blog posts to Demand Media’s highly trafficked sites including eHow.com and LIVESTRONG.COM in addition to Content Channels partner sites.

As an added benefit, bloggers will also receive backlinks to their blogs with each post, which may help bloggers improve the rankings of their content in search engine results. All eligible blogs will be part of the Demand Media Studios revenue share program, where bloggers have the opportunity to earn revenue based on the pageviews that their posts receive on the company’s and its partners’ sites

Sounds like a good deal. It's not. Indeed, look at the contrast between the press release and the actual contract Demand Media hopes to fool you into signing.

The press release reads: "Blog posts that are syndicated carry an identifying byline to ensure that the blogger’s brand goes wherever their posts appear."

The contract - which supercedes the press release - states: "You waive all 'moral rights of authors' that may exist or any similar rights. We may, but are not obligated to, provide attribution to you in connection with any Contribution or to display, use or otherwise exploit any Contribution."

In other words, Demand Media can take your blog posts, remove your name, and there's nothing you can do. Demand Media can even demand that you take down your own blog, as Demand Media owns the copyright to your posts. In other words, by keeping your own blog up, you'd be committing copyright infringement against Demand Media.

It's a complete and total scam. Bloggers beware of Demand Media.
